Troubleshooting guide for common device malfunctions

This guide walks you through the most frequent hardware issues, their possible causes, and practical solutions to help you restore your device’s performance quickly and safely.

iPad related issues

Why the iPad does not turn on?

  • Check if the battery is discharged and connect it to a charger. Wait for 10 minutes, because if the battery is completely discharged, it will take a while for the device to receive enough charge to power on
  • The device will start automatically after about 10 minutes of charging. We recommend you to always have the iPad connected to a charger, or at least just before and during your karaoke event
  • If the battery does not charge when the HDMI adapter is plugged between the device and the charging cable, disconnect the charging cable from the adapter and turn it over. Alternatively, you can remove the adapter completely and charge the device first
  • If all else fails, check that your charger is working normally, e.g. by trying to charge another device or using another charger with your device
  • It's possible that there's a hardware issue with your iPad, such as a malfunctioning power button or a problem with the internal components. If you suspect this is the case, you may need to take it to an authorized service center for repair.

  • Software issue: In some cases, a software glitch or crash can prevent the iPad from turning on. You can try performing a hard reset by holding down the power button and the home button (or volume down button on iPads without a physical home button) simultaneously for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo appear.

  • Water damage: If your iPad has been exposed to water or other liquids, it could be causing the issue. In such cases, you should avoid turning it on and instead, take it to a repair center as soon as possible to prevent further damage.

💡If none of these solutions work, it's best to contact Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance.

Why the iPad does not hold charge?

Singa is developed to be power-efficient enough to work with the charger that comes in the box. In rare cases, depending on the other parts of the setup, such as the TV and/or speakers, you might need to get a more powerful 30W charger. However, Singa can not compensate for this. It's also important to minimize other iPad usage when using Singa Pro, so we recommend you always close other apps and keep the iPad fully charged between sessions.

  • Restart Wi-Fi or cellular - Turn it off and back on, then wait a few seconds.
  • Check Airplane mode - Make sure it’s off.
  • Forget & reconnect network - Rejoin your Wi-Fi or reinsert SIM if using cellular.
  • Restart the iPad - Quick reboot clears temporary glitches.
  • Reset network settingsSettings → General → Transfer or Reset iPad → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
  • Test other devices - If other devices also struggle, it’s likely the router or internet service.
  • Move closer to router / remove case - Thick cases or distance can weaken the signal.

Audio and screen issues

Why I can't get no sound/audio?

If you are having trouble with the sound on your iPad, check our sound issue related article from here.

Why my microphone is not working?

Here’s a quick checklist to work through:

  1. Simplify the chain: Temporarily remove the mixer and screen. Connect the mic directly (or via simple adapter) to the iPad and test (Voice Memos app, for example). This will tell you if the mic + port + iPad path works alone.

  2. Check iPad mic detection: Use Voice Memos or Camera app on iPad: record something and see if any audio is captured. If not, it’s likely the mic/port/adapter.

  3. Check connections and cables: Ensure all connectors are seated properly, correct types (TRS vs TRRS), and that the mixer output matches the iPad input type.

  4. Check mixer routing/gain: Make sure mic channel is active, gain is up, output routed to the line-out that goes to the iPad, and the output level is adequate.

  5. Check iPad settings: In iPad Settings → Privacy → Microphone: ensure that the Singa Pro app has permission. Also check for any audio input selection inside the app.

  6. Check for interference from other devices: Disconnect other USB/USB-C devices (external screen, hub) to see if the mic input works when only the mic + iPad are connected.

  7. Update software: On iPad go to Settings → General → Software Update. Also check for firmware of the mixer/hub if applicable.

  8. Test with another mic/input: If possible, swap the mic for another one or test the mixer output with another device. This helps isolate the faulty element.

  9. Inspect hardware: Clean ports, remove any debris, check for wear/damage. On the iPad’s case ensure mic openings aren’t blocked.

  10. As a last resort: Reset all settings on the iPad or restore it (after backup). If still no mic, it might be a hardware issue and professional repair may be needed.

Why I can't see anything on the external screen?

Physical & power

  • Screen on and input set correctly (HDMI 1, etc.)
  • Cable firmly connected; try a different HDMI/USB-C cable
  • Hub/adapter powered (use ≥20 W charger to PD port)

Adapter & compatibility

  • Use Apple Digital AV Adapter or MFi-certified USB-C hub
  • If Lightning iPad → must use Apple Lightning AV Adapter
  • Not all hubs support video — check “DisplayPort Alt Mode” support

iPad settings

  • Go to Settings → Display & Brightness → check if screen detected
  • Toggle Stage Manager on/off or Mirroring
  • Restart iPad, then reconnect
  • Update iPadOS to latest version (iPad settings > general > about > software update)

Testing

  • Try direct iPad → HDMI cable (no mixer/hub)
  • Test another monitor or TV
  • If other devices work on the same display → adapter/hub likely bad

Still no image?

  • Reset all settings (keeps data):
Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPad → Reset All Settings
  • If still blank → possible hardware or port issue, get it checked
